Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s partnering with The Huge Foundation to fund scholarships for tomorrow’s female leaders

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Outdoor retailers Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s, together with The Harry & Reba Huge Foundation, will be awarding $40,000 in scholarships to four female graduates of Missouri or Nebraska high schools this spring. Applications are being accepted now through Tuesday, February 12, 2019.

The Women in Leadership scholarship program is part of an initiative by Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s to encourage young women to become tomorrow’s leaders. This is the seventh year Cabela’s and Bass Pro Shops have partnered with The Huge Foundation to award scholarships to deserving Missouri and Nebraska students. Since establishing the Women in Leadership scholarship program in 2012, Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s have worked with The Huge Foundation to provide $280,000 in scholarship funding to female high school students in Missouri and Nebraska.

“Women in Leadership scholarships provide substantial financial support to deserving young women poised to become the next generation of strong business leaders,” said Sarah Kaiser, Vice President of Human Resources at Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s. “We’re empowering these women to dream big and envision a future that suits their skills and passions.”

Scholarships will be awarded to women who graduate in the spring of 2019 and plan to attend college in the fall of 2019. Selected students receive $2,500 each collegiate year for an individual total award of $10,000. Additionally, the scholarship winners will have access to personalized educational and career mentoring as well as potential internships and connection to professional networking opportunities.

“We are proud to continue this project with Bass Pro and Cabela’s,” said Jim Huge, director of the Foundation. “This opportunity provides students from small towns, rural communities and surrounding cities the opportunity to move forward with their education, shaping future female leaders in Missouri and Nebraska for years to come.”

Applications are available through the Scholarshipquest website (www.educationquest.org); the Harry and Reba Huge Foundation website (www.thehugefoundation.org); or from high school counselors.
