Martin Truex Jr. helps celebrate 40 years of TRACKER Boats with special ‘throwback’ paint scheme at Darlington
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Bass Pro Shops today announced a special paint scheme that will adorn Furniture Row Racing’s No. 78 of Martin Truex Jr. at the upcoming race in Darlington, S.C. As a special tribute to the 40th anniversary of TRACKER® Boats, the Toyota Camry will feature a ‘throwback’ paint scheme reminiscent of the brand’s 1970’s history. The No. 78 Bass Pro Shops/TRACKER Boats Toyota will compete in the NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series Bojangles Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway Sunday, September 3.
In 1978, Bass Pro Shops founder and CEO Johnny Morris revolutionized the marine industry when he introduced the world's first professionally rigged and nationally marketed boat, motor and trailer packages. TRACKER Boats quickly became and has remained the number one selling fishing boat brand in America.
Heading into Darlington as the defending Southern 500 champion, Truex remains number one in the NASCAR Cup Series in several categories including driver points (971), playoff points (35), stage wins (15) and race wins (4). With two races remaining before the playoffs, he is in position to clinch the regular season championship if he can leave Darlington with at least a 61-point margin.
