Bass Pro Shops helps National Wild Turkey Federation raise funds in March with round up campaign

Bass Pro Shops is enabling customers to join the company in supporting the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) throughout March. Thanks to a round up campaign at all Bass Pro Shops locations across the U.S., customers are invited to donate their change to the nation’s leading nonprofit wild turkey conservation organization by rounding up their purchase totals to the nearest dollar.

Customer round up donations will enhance NWTF’s Save the Habitat. Save the Hunt. initiative, which ensures the health of future wild turkey populations, conserves or enhances more than four million acres of essential wildlife habitat, recruits new hunters and opens access to 500,000 acres for hunting, shooting and outdoor enjoyment. In addition to NWTF receiving 100 percent of the money customers donate at the cash register, Bass Pro Shops will make a contribution at the end of the month, matching 50 percent of the donated total.

“We are so thankful for the unending support from Johnny Morris and Bass Pro Shops,” said NWTF CEO George Thornton. “They continue to create opportunities for our shared audiences to further conservation efforts in this country.”

Bass Pro Shops and its founder, noted conservationist Johnny Morris, has been a significant conservation partner to NWTF for a number of years. To commemorate this long-standing support, NWTF honored Morris last month with special recognition at its annual Convention and Sport Show in Nashville, Tenn. Morris has significant impacted every facet of the organization, supporting programs that have conserved and enhanced more than 1.7 million acres of habitat, opened more than 327,000 acres of hunting access, led more than 680,000 hunters to the sport and aided state conservation departments in repopulating turkey habitats through trap and transfers. Donating more than $1 million to the new NWTF Hunting Heritage Center, the facility has shared the shooting sports, hunting and conservation with more than 50,000 people in its first year. He also played a leading role in several other key initiatives including a $1.1 million donation to pay off construction of the NWTF headquarters.

Johnny Morris has made giving back to conservation a hallmark of Bass Pro Shops since he first began selling fishing tackle in the back of his dad’s liquor store in 1972. Over the course of several decades, Morris has dedicated himself to inspiring everyone, especially youth and families, to enjoy, love and conserve the great outdoors. One way that Bass Pro Shops works on behalf of conservation is by supporting the efforts of nonprofit conservation organizations that share a desire to tackle key conservation initiatives such as fish and wildlife habitat improvements, conservation and outdoor skills education, improving the quality of our lakes, rivers and springs, and conservation advocacy.

About the Save the Habitat. Save the Hunt. initiative.

The NWTF Save the Habitat. Save the Hunt. initiative is a charge that mobilizes science, fundraising and devoted volunteers to give the NWTF more energy and purpose than ever. Through this national initiative, NWTF has committed to raising $1.2 billion to conserve or enhance more than 4 million acres of essential upland wildlife habitat, recruit or reactivate at least 1.5 million hunters and open access to 500,000 acres for hunting, shooting and outdoor enjoyment. Without hunters, there will be no wildlife or habitat. The NWTF is determined to Save the Habitat. Save the Hunt.
